Electronics and Communication Engineering

About theDepartment

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at VJIT was established in the year 1999 with an initial intake of 40 students. Over the years, the department has grown significantly and currently offers a B.Tech program in ECE with an intake of 240 students, and an M.Tech program in Embedded Systems (ES) with an intake of 24 students. The department is also recognized as a Research Center by JNTUH, fostering academic research and innovation. The department has been continuously accredited by the NBA: Currently accredited till June 30, 2028. The department is proud to have a highly qualified faculty team, with more than 30% holding Ph.D. degrees from premier institutions like NITs, Osmania University, JNTUH, and JNTUK. The faculty brings a wealth of experience and specialization in areas such as VLSI, Communications, Embedded Systems, and Signal Processing. They actively follow and implement Outcome-Based Education (OBE) practices, ensuring a student-centered and industry-relevant learning experience.

ECE students benefit from state-of-the-art laboratories and industry-grade software tools, enabling hands-on experience and practical knowledge. The department also fosters technical excellence through student chapters of IEEE and IETE, and regularly organizes workshops, guest lectures, and technical events on emerging technologies.

To enhance employability and technical competence, students are encouraged to enroll in value-added certification programs such as NPTEL, CISCO, and Spoken Tutorial courses. The faculty consistently upgrades their skills by participating in Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and workshops, aligning with the evolving trends in the ECE domain.

A well-structured mentoring system is in place, where each student is guided and supported through personalized counseling, career planning, and academic tracking. Thanks to the strong academic foundation and skill-building initiatives, more than 60% of eligible students are placed through campus recruitment drives in reputed companies every year.

The department is headed by Dr. P. Nageswara Rao, a seasoned academician with over 30 years of experience in reputed institutions. Under his visionary leadership, the department continues to strive for academic excellence, research innovation, and student success.
