Introduction
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology (VJIT), in association with the IETE Student Forum (ISF), organized an expert lecture on “Design Challenges and Solutions for 6U CubeSat” on 23rd September 2025. The lecture marked the formal inauguration of VJIT’s ambitious 6U CubeSat Project, a significant step towards promoting advanced research and innovation in space technology.
The CubeSat project is being undertaken in collaboration with Anurag University, Hyderabad, establishing a strong academic partnership focused on nanosatellite design, development, and space research. The initiative aims to provide students with practical exposure to satellite technologies while encouraging interdisciplinary learning and research.
Objectives of the Expert Lecture
The lecture was organized with the following objectives:
- To introduce students to the fundamentals of CubeSat technology and nanosatellite missions.
- To provide insights into the design challenges involved in developing a 6U CubeSat.
- To explain the integration of various satellite subsystems and mission planning.
- To familiarize students with current trends and innovations in small satellite technology.
- To motivate students to participate in research and development activities in the aerospace and space technology domains.
Expert Session
The expert lecture was delivered by Dr. M. Narayana, Professor, Department of ECE and Director of the Nano Satellite Centre at Anurag University, Hyderabad, who shared his extensive experience in satellite development and space research.
