Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology (VJIT) joyfully celebrated the vibrant Bathukamma festival on 25th September 2025, embracing the true spirit of Telangana’s rich cultural heritage. The campus came alive with colours, music, and festive joy as students and faculty gathered to honour this traditional floral festival.
The event was graced by Ms. Mukunda, a renowned folk song singer, who attended as the Chief Guest. Her soulful renditions of popular folk songs filled the atmosphere with traditional charm, making the celebration even more memorable.
The celebration was also attended by Dr. A. Srujana, Principal; Dr. A. Padmaja, Dean; Mrs. G. Srilatha, Director – Academics; and Mr. R. Venkatachalam, Director – Placements & Training, who collectively appreciated the efforts of students and faculty in organizing such a culturally enriching event.
The festivities began with a mesmerizing Kuchipudi performance dedicated to Goddess Durga in her various forms. The graceful dance left the audience spellbound, setting the tone for the day’s celebrations. Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. A. Srujana highlighted the importance of preserving cultural traditions and celebrating them with pride, unity, and enthusiasm.
More than 1,000 students and staff actively participated in playing Bathukamma, beautifully arranging flowers in vibrant patterns and joyfully dancing to traditional tunes. The rhythmic beats and lively atmosphere reflected the deep cultural essence of Telangana.
Adding a contemporary twist, the celebration concluded with a DJ session, allowing students to continue the festivities with energy and excitement, blending tradition and modernity in perfect harmony.
The Bathukamma celebration at VJIT was truly a colourful cultural extravaganza, symbolizing togetherness, respect for tradition, and the joyful spirit that defines the institute’s vibrant community.
