A two day Faculty Development Programme on ‘Role of Mathematics in Engineering’ was organized by Department of Mathematics in H&S department on 19th and 20th July 2013.

Dr. B.  S. Lakshmi, Associate Professor of Mathematics, JNTUH was the Chief Guest of the Inaugural Ceremony. Sri V. Raja Mahendra Reddy HOD H&S welcomed all the participants. Dr. P. Rajeshwar Reddy, Chairman, Anurag Group of Institutions and Correspondent VJIT spoke on the importance of Mathematics   and its applications in different branches of engineering. Dr. A. Padmaja, Principal, VJIT expressed that a solid foundation in mathematics is essential for any career in Engineering.

On the first day, in the morning session Dr.  B.  S. Lakshmi delivered a lecture on Mathematical Modelling. She explained the concepts of modeling with reference to biology.

Prof. K. Satyanarayana gave a lecture named popular talk on Mathematics. Mathematical concepts of theorem, lemma and conjectures like twin prime, gold Bach’s etc. were explained.

Prof. Srinathan spoke on Symbiosis between Mathematics and Computer Science in the afternoon session. He spoke about creation of security codes for different programmes using binary conversion.

On the second day we had sessions by Dr. A. Ramu, Professor of Mathematics, BITS, Hyderabad. In Numerical analysis, he explained how to solve partial differential equations by different techniques such as Taylor’s series, Euler’s, Rangakutta etc.

Prof. Y. N. Reddy, Professor of Mathematics, NIT, and Warangal delivered a lecture on Difference Equations and Applications. He talked about different types of equations such as Algebraic, Transcendental equations and conversion of some theoretical problems to mathematical equations and their solutions.

Prof. M.A.S. Srinivas, Professor and HOD of Mathematics, JNTU, Hyderabad delivered a lecture on Conceptional Teaching of Engineering Mathematics in the afternoon session. He talked about the important applications of multiple integrals, nature of curves in the field of electrical and electronics engineering.

Participation Certificates were distributed to all the participants in the Valedictory Ceremony.
