The Department of Civil Engineering, VJIT, in association with the Dr. Fixit Training Institute and ICI Student Chapter, successfully organized a One-Day Certification Course on Remedial Waterproofing Techniques on 20th August 2024.
The session was led by Mr. Goutham Sur, Training Manager at Dr. Fixit, Hyderabad, who delivered an expert talk focusing on the critical role of waterproofing in construction. The course addressed common structural issues like water leakage, dampness, and cracks, and discussed remedial techniques such as:
- Crack injection
- Surface coatings
- Waterproof membranes
Mr. Sur emphasized the importance of choosing the right technique based on the type and extent of damage, enhancing both structural durability and sustainability.
The course concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students had the opportunity to engage with the expert, clarify doubts, and gain practical insights into industry-specific challenges.
This initiative equipped students with essential practical knowledge and industry-ready skills, reinforcing VJIT’s commitment to holistic and application-oriented learning in civil engineering.
