Date: October 4, 2018
Venue: C-Block Seminar Hall
Chief Guest: Mrs. G. Venkatlakshmi, Senior Scientist, ECIL
The Women Empowerment Cell of Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology successfully organized a thought-provoking seminar titled “Discussion on the Problem of Women’s Education.” Held on October 4, 2018, in the C-Block Seminar Hall, the event saw an enthusiastic participation of over 450 students, with a special focus on girl students and female faculty members.
The seminar was graced by the presence of Mrs. G. Venkatlakshmi, Senior Scientist at ECIL, who served as the chief guest and keynote speaker. Her address shed light on the persistent challenges faced by women in accessing education, particularly within the socio-cultural context of India.
Mrs. Venkatlakshmi traced the historical roots of educational disparity, explaining how societal norms, rooted in centuries of conservative traditionalism, led to the systemic exclusion of women from educational opportunities. She noted that during the later part of the Vedic period, women were denied access to the Vedas, thereby stripping them of their right to knowledge and marginalizing their role in intellectual and social spheres.
The discussion emphasized that the education of girls and women is not merely a personal right, but a national necessity. Education empowers women to become catalysts for change within their families and communities. As the central figures in family life, educated women can contribute significantly to social progress, health improvement, poverty elimination, and economic development.
The seminar also addressed practical concerns such as the need to bridge the gender gap in education and to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder educational opportunities for girls. Participants explored actionable solutions to promote and sustain women’s education in the face of societal and economic challenges.
The session concluded on a high note, with many attendees expressing a renewed sense of purpose. Inspired by the insights shared during the event, they committed to supporting the cause of women’s education through advocacy and action.
The seminar served as a powerful reminder of the role that education plays in empowering women and fostering a more equitable society. The Women Empowerment Cell remains committed to organizing such initiatives that spark dialogue, inspire change, and pave the way toward a brighter, more inclusive future.
