Team Nambi_VJ from Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology, Hyderabad made it to the finals of Cansat Student Competition jointly organised by the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe), Astronautical Society of India (ASI) and ISRO. The team won the Best Design Award for their Cansat in the finals held at Ahmedabad from April 15th to 17th 2024.The team received appreciation from Mr.S.Somnath, Chairman of ISRO, Mr. Pawan Goenka, Chairman of IN-SPACe and Dr. Vinod Kumar, Director of IN-SPACe, Executive Secretary of ASI.
A Cansat is a mini cylindrical satellite consisting of various sensors such as temperature sensor, Pressure sensor, Altitude sensor, Latitude and Longitude sensor, Humidity sensor, camera, Gyroscope. The Cansat was released by a drone from a height of 900m, parachutes were released at a height of 500m to control the descent and telemetry was obtained in the ground station. The communication link was made using Zigbee.
The Nambi_VJ team consisted of 8 students Mr. Nabeel (Team leader and OBComm) & Spatika Prasad (Payload, EPS) of Final year ECE, Soma Kunal Raj (Sensors, EPS) & Kethavath Srikanth (Descend Control) of Third year ECE, Owais Hussain (OBC) & Sai Harshitha Aluru (Mission Management) of Final year AI, Sai poorna Laxman ( Structural & Environmental) of Final year Mech., and Yalamanchili Surya Teja (Ground Station) of Third Year CSE, worked on this project for past 2 years. Mr. Md. Akram Ahmed, Assistant Professor in ECE Department, coordinated for this project.
