2nd International Indo–African Conference Series on “Advancements in Construction Materials (ICACM 2025)” Jointly Organized by National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, India, Department of Civil Engineering, Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology (VJIT), Hyderabad, India, and The Copperbelt University (CBU), Zambia in association with Indian Concrete Institute (ICI)

Dates: 30th & 31st October, 2025, The conference brought together researchers, academicians, industry professionals, and students to discuss advancements, challenges, and innovations in construction materials and engineering technologies, strengthening academic and research linkages between Indian and African institutions.

Conference Objectives are to Provide a platform for international collaboration and research exchange, Explore advancements in sustainable and innovative construction materials, Share best practices and case studies from academia and industry, Promote advances in concrete construction technology, interdisciplinary research, and global networking opportunities, The Inaugural Session was moderated by Mrs. Y. Suneetha, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering Department, VJIT. The distinguished guests included Dr. A. Ramachandra Murthy, Chief Scientist & Head, Fatigue and Fracture Laboratory, SERC; Dr. T. Palanisamy, Associate Professor, Civil Engineering, NIT Karnataka, Surathkal; Professor G. Senthil Kumaran, Dean, School of Engineering, The Copperbelt University, Zambia; Dr. Chewe Kambole, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering & Construction, The Copperbelt University, Zambia; and Prof. Bernard Hang’ombe, Deputy Vice Chancellor-Research and Innovations, CBU.

The session began with Dr. N. Sudharsan, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, providing an overview of the conference. This was followed by addresses from Dr. T. Palanisamy, Conference Chair Prof. Chewe Kambole, Dr. A Srujana, Principal, Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, India, and Prof. Bernard Hang’ombe.

The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Y. Suneetha, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering Department, VJIT. The first day’s morning technical session commenced with a keynote address by Dr. A. Ramachandra Murthy, Chief Scientist & Head, Fatigue & Fracture Laboratory, CSIR – SERC, Chennai, India.
