Visit to Rural Technology Park, NIRD

The Rural Entrepreneurship Development Cell (REDC) and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) of Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology with the support of Dr. E. Saibaba Reddy, Director and Dr. A Padmaja, Principal has organized a Rural Entrepreneurial Awareness Program by visiting Rural Technology Park, National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayath Raj, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad on 28th March, 2023. A group of fifty students from all the branches (UG & PG) along with Dr. Masarat Jahan, REDC Coordinator, Dr. M. Vadivel, EDC Coordinator, Mrs. T. Deepika faculty coordinator has visited Rural Technology Park.

Dr. Pranab Kumar Ghosh, Assistant Director, Rural Technology Park (RTP), Centre for Innovations and Appropriate Technologies for Skills & Jobs (CIAT&SJ) in his AV explained the cost-effective, local resource based and environment friendly technologies are being used for rural development of different sectors. The guiding principles of RTP include use of local resources, cost-effectiveness, eco-friendly, blending tradition with modern technologies, Rural Housing, Renewable energy and natural resource management and Skill development & Promotion of entrepreneurship.

Students has visited the following technology units: Cost effective Rural housing technologies, Solar energy workshop, Hand Made Paper, Natural Dying, Vermicomposting and Culture, Viral Pesticides, Soya based value added products, Leaf Plate Making Unit, Bee Keeping and Honey Processing, Botanical Pesticides, etc., and also interacted with the entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs explained the students about manufacturing process, marketing and distribution strategies also. RTP is providing training sessions also in the above mentioned areas for the upliftment and development of rural. The students had a very worthwhile time spent in learning how the Rural India can be a place for innovative startups.
