The Civil Engineering Department of Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology organized a Training program on Concrete Mix Proportion as per IS 10262-2019, as a part of the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Construction Practices & Materials in association with Ultra-Tech Cement Ltd. on 2nd May 2024.
The session started with a welcome address by the Head of Department, Dr. Pallavi Badry, and invited Mr. Er. Nandika Srinivas Rao, Regional Head of Technical Customer Solutions, Ultra-Tech Cement Ltd and Practicing Engineers and all the students. The speaker delivered a descriptive and informative presentation on ‘Concrete Mix Proportioning – Guidelines’. It was a very insightful deliberation covering the design steps and the latest modification made as per IS 10262-2019. It also explained the difference between theoretical and real life problems and how to solve them. The importance of water cement ratio, material quantities, admixtures, fly ash and other relevant topics were discussed during the presentation. The training aimed to disseminate knowledge about the guidelines of Concrete Mix Proportions as per the codes, high grade concrete of M80 was calculated with the guidance of the session speaker. In this Continuation References to prepare the ready mixed concrete were guided as per IS 4926:2003 provided for production transportation, and use of Ready mixed concrete(RMC).To obtain brief experience, the students performed the flow table test, Concrete Cubes, and test Procedures. The event served as a catalyst for increased awareness and collaboration within the construction industry, fostering a commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible practices The presentation concluded with an interactive session with the students.
