International online Faculty Development Program on Recent Advances in Civil Engineering

A Three Day International Online Faculty Development Program on “Recent Advances in Civil Engineering” was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering from 10th – 12th June 2020. Over 450 faculties and Research scholars took part in the webinar from various Institutions.

On the First Day the first Session had Dr Subhash C. Yaragal, Dean and Professor of National Institute of Technology, Surathkal, Karnataka gave a detailed explanation on ‘The Recent efforts towards Sustainable Development and the Importance in the Present Situations’. Followed by Dr S. Neelamani, Senior  Research Scientist, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Kuwait. She had proposed, different and innovative solutions for the water scarcity problem being faced in the present times and the implementation of the ideas  that can make future free from water scarcity.

On the Second Day Dr T. Palanisamy, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, National  Institute of Technology, Surathakar, Karnataka gave a brief explanation on ‘The Micro Characterisation of Concrete. The next Session was handled by Dr Kishan Kumar khatuna, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, National  Institute of technology, Surathakar, Karnataka. He explained about ‘The Different Flows and the Flow Modelling in the Open Channel Flow.

On the Third Day Dr Sunitha K Nayar, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad, Kerala gave a vast explanation on “The  Special Concrete, its Uses and its Applications in the Present Constructions”. The Session was continued by Dr Peter Demian, Reader, Building Information Management, School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering, Loughborough, University, UK. He delivered a detailed explanation  on “The Digital Transformation of Civil Engineering and Construction, its uses in Construction Industry and the Principles Involved in it”.

All the resource Persons answered the queries of the participants. Dr Pallavi Badry proposed the Vote of Thanks.
