The Department of Civil Engineering, Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology organized an industrial visit to Shree TMT Steel Industry on 20th November 2024. This initiative was part of the department’s ongoing effort to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical industry exposure.
Shree TMT Steel, a renowned manufacturer of Thermo-Mechanically Treated (TMT) steel bars, has established itself as a leader in the construction materials sector by consistently delivering high-quality products that meet international standards.
The visit was attended by UG students from II, III, and IV years, accompanied by faculty members Dr. Srihari, Dr. Sudharshan, and Ms. Divyavani. The objective was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of steel manufacturing processes, from raw material handling, melting and casting, rolling, and quality control to finishing and packaging.
The students were guided by experienced professionals including Mr. Hanumesh Babu, Mr. Nithin Thakur (QC Team), Mr. Rajeev Singh Bisht (Head – Technical Marketing), and Er. Akula Nishit (Sales & Technical Marketing). Their detailed walkthrough of each phase of production enabled students to gain valuable insights into quality control measures, technical processes, and operational efficiencies within a large-scale steel industry.
This hands-on experience greatly enriched the students’ understanding of core civil engineering concepts and helped them connect academic learning with real-world industrial practices.
