On 13th March 2024, the students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology had the privilege of visiting the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) Outreach facility at Jeedimetla Campus, Hyderabad. This enriching industrial visit offered students an incredible opportunity to explore the cutting-edge advancements in remote sensing technology and its practical applications.
About NRSC
NRSC, located in Hyderabad, plays a pivotal role in remote sensing satellite data acquisition, processing, dissemination, and aerial remote sensing. It supports disaster management and collaborates on various remote sensing application projects. With its data reception station in Shadnagar, NRSC collects Earth Observation data from both Indian and foreign satellites, providing essential inputs for large-scale applications such as infrastructure planning, digital mapping, and aeromagnetic surveys.
Highlights of the Visit
The students gained valuable insights through the following activities:
- Attended interactive lectures about NRSC’s objectives and operations.
- Watched design, development, and launch videos of satellite projects.
- Explored an exhibition showcasing space technology and remote sensing applications.
- Learned about ISRO’s satellite launches, its regional centers, and their unique contributions to India’s space missions.
- Understood the wide-ranging space-based applications powered by remote sensing technology.
Key Observations
- Gained knowledge about remote sensing applications and geospatial technology.
- Learned about ISRO’s extensive network and its crucial role in space exploration.
- Understood the importance of satellites in supporting sustainable development and disaster management.
Outcome
This visit provided the students with hands-on exposure to one of India’s most advanced technological domains. They left inspired by the impactful role of remote sensing in national development and motivated to explore new horizons in the field of space technology and geoinformatics.
Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology continues to prioritize such industrial visits to bridge the gap between academics and industry, ensuring students are future-ready with the latest knowledge and skills.
