The Department of Civil Engineering, Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology organized an industrial visit to Organo Eco Habitats Pvt. Ltd on 27th September 2024 for final-year UG students, accompanied by faculty members. The visit provided a first-hand experience of sustainable development practices and eco-conscious civil engineering.
Morning Session – Organo Antharam (60 Acres)
The visit began with a guided tour of Organo Antharam, a 60-acre eco-habitat, led by project managers Mr. Rajkumar and Mr. Satish. The students were introduced to the project’s guiding philosophy, “Saptapatha,” which focuses on seven foundational principles: air, water, food, earth, energy, shelter, and people.
Mr. Prabhakar elaborated on how the project integrates these elements to create sustainable, community-driven environments. Students observed innovative methods in eco-friendly construction, rainwater harvesting, and renewable energy utilization, gaining valuable insight into the real-world applications of sustainability in civil engineering.
Afternoon Session – Organo Kandawada (50 Acres)
In the second half of the day, the team visited Organo Kandawada, another flagship development covering 50 acres. The site showcased energy-efficient housing, community farming models, and the strategic integration of green spaces into residential planning.
Students participated in interactive discussions with the project team, addressing challenges in sustainable construction such as material sourcing, design considerations, and community involvement. These discussions deepened their understanding of the holistic approach to eco-habitat development.
Key Takeaways:
Exposure to practical sustainable practices in real estate and construction.
- Understanding the importance of ecological balance in built environments.
- Insight into career opportunities in green construction and eco-urban planning.
This visit proved to be an eye-opening experience for aspiring civil engineers, inspiring them to consider sustainability not just as a concept but as a core professional value.
