On the 5th December 2020, VJIT witnessed the inauguration of the VJIT Chapter of ‘Engineers Without Borders’ (EWB). EWB is a Global Organization with Active Chapters in 45 different countries with 16,800 active members. As the name suggests, it aims at providing technical expertise through engineering students and working professionals to solve social problems.
The Morning Session was presided over by our beloved Principal Dr. A. Padmaja, who elucidated a very motivating speech highlighting the need for more such organizations and also appreciated the efforts of the students who came together to form the Chapter. The faculty advisor, Mr. Y. Praveen Kumar delivered the welcome address. The event witnessed the esteemed presence of Mr. Bharat Maharaj the Chairman, EWB India. He delivered an engrossing talk on the problems faced by the world and where engineers fit into the picture. He also emphasized the importance of time over money, rightly stating that “Time is more expensive than money” and how one should spend time rather than money to help others in need.
