On 6th March 2021, the Women Empowerment Cell of VJIT, in collaboration with Yukthi, successfully organized a Virtual Panel Discussion focused on Women Empowerment and the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH). This timely initiative was held in the context of International Women’s Day, aiming to foster awareness, empowerment, and dialogue among women students and faculty members.

The panel brought together eminent professionals from diverse sectors, offering valuable perspectives and insights on issues related to gender equality, workplace safety, and the broader goal of empowering women through education, entrepreneurship, and policy support.

The discussion was moderated by Ms. Sree Lata Shankar, HR Head at Bodhtree Consulting, who guided the conversation with thoughtful prompts and inclusive engagement.

The panelists included:

  • Ms. Geeta Goti, Director, Telangana Government for Entrepreneurship Center – who spoke on the importance of policy and institutional support for women entrepreneurs, and the evolving role of women in business and governance.
  • Ms. Sunaina Tickoo, Founder & CEO of Brainpreneurs – who emphasized the significance of mindset change, leadership skills, and emotional intelligence in empowering young women to overcome challenges.
  • Mr. Bhagwan Gorti, Chief Executive Officer & Promoter, Positive Solutions Pvt. Ltd – who addressed the need for creating safe workplaces and the importance of POSH compliance in building trust and accountability.
  • Mr. Vivek Gupta, Head, Talent Management, Rentokil Initial Asia – who provided industry insights on inclusive hiring practices, career advancement for women, and fostering respectful work cultures.

The session created a meaningful platform for VJIT’s girl students and women faculty to interact directly with leaders who are actively contributing to gender equity in their respective domains. Topics such as legal frameworks under POSH, real-life challenges faced by working women, the importance of mentorship, and actionable strategies for self-empowerment were thoroughly discussed.

This event marked a significant step in continuing the efforts of the Women Empowerment Cell to educate, inspire, and empower the young women of VJIT, equipping them with the awareness and confidence needed to thrive in academic, professional, and personal environments.
