A 3-Day Hands on Workshop on PLC & SCADA Training

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted a 3-Days Workshop on Simplifying Complex Processes thro’ Automated Monitoring and Controls in association with IPCS Global Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, from 11^th to 13^th September 2024 for IV year B.Tech (EEE) students.

Day 1:

The Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. A. Srujana, Professor and Head (EEE), VJIT, Dr. A.Padmaja, Dean Accreditations and Rankings, VJIT, Mr. Amit Rao Perka, Technical Head, Automation Division & Sr. Corporate Trainer, IPCS and Dr.C.N.Ravi, Professor (EEE), VJIT, in C-Block, 2 ^nd Floor Auditorium by lighting the lamp with divine prayer. Inaugural session anchored by Mrs. V. Vijayalakshmi, Inaugural address is delivered by Head of the Department, Need of the workshop is addressed by Dean, Outcome of the workshop explained by Mr.Amit Rao Perka, and session ends with the vote of thanks given by Dr. C. N. Ravi.

The topics covered in the Day-1 are,

• Introduction and Architecture to PLC 
• Different Types of PLCs & Selection Types of PLC 
• Programming Languages-IEC 61131-3 
• Libraries, Blocks for PLC Programming, Memory’s & Registers.
• PLC Programming practice

Day 2: PLC Programming using timer/counter and Industrial based Examples

For the simplifying Complex Processes thro’ Automated Monitoring and Controls, the timers and counters are essential and hands on training are provided. The important topics covered in the Day-2 workshop are,

• Lab Practice with Program NO/NC Ladder Programming 
• Digital Instructions Ladder Examples/Tasks
• Timers Instructions 
• Counter Instructions 
• Industrial based Examples

Day 3: SCADA- Factory Talk

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) is the software used to control and monitor the industries and huge automation process. Allen Bradley Make- FactoryTalk View Studio is used to demonstrate and make the students work on Day 3. The important topics covered are,
